Sherian's School of Dance is enjoying another successful 2017-2018 dance year. Our knowledgeable and experienced instructors are sharing our love of dance and all of our dancers and their families are having a memorable and fun dance year.
Our goal is to provide a "family friendly" studio where dancers can flourish and be encouraged to explore their individual abilities. Our highly qualified instructors work hard to develop positive attitudes while teaching everything from the fundamentals, to the most advanced techniques. It is our goal that all of our students have fun and leave class each day with a sense of pride in what they have accomplished. We provide a safe, nurturing environment where our students will gain confidence, friendships and positive self-esteem.
Everyone learns at a different pace and the key is to enjoy the journey. At Sherian's School of Dance our dancers are placed in a level that will be challenging to them, yet keep it fun as a number one priority. When they are ready for the next level, Ms Sherian will discuss it with the dancer and parents. Movement to the next level is not based on a time frame or age, rather on the ability to accept the challenge of advanced techniques and training. Fewer students in the class means your dancer will receive more personalized attention, learn more and have more fun. Ms Sherian limits class sizes to 8-12 students, depending on age and ability level. This allows the dancers to progress more quickly and the teacher can be confident that fundamental concepts are not being missed.
We are always aware of the age of the child when choosing music and choreography. Our music is age-appropriate and tasteful, while our choreography is the latest style but still acceptable for public viewing. Ms Sherian is very selective with our costumes; we want our students to be proud to perform on stage.
Dance is a challenging art which requires practice and work to master. At Sherian's School of Dance our unofficial motto is "If it isn't fun, we probably aren't going to do it". From ballet class to tumbling class to our recital performance, the entire staff at Sherian's School of Dance ensures our dancers enjoy their art and look forward to coming to the studio. Classes are structured, but our students have the freedom to express themselves and explore their art.
At Sherian's School of Dance we have rapidly established ourselves as the Baldwin County leader in performance, production and quality. Our recitals are fast-paced, professionally produced, fun to watch and above all appropriate. Our performance numbers are age-appropriate and our costumes tasteful, so you need never worry about your dancer being exposed to inappropriate music or choreography. Our parents are encouraged to participate and the parents' dance number is always the highlights of our show.
Our nationally known performance team has reaped dozens of awards in both regional and national competitions. Sherian's Dance Company also performs at local venues for the enjoyment of our community. In the past we have danced at the Foley Heritage Festival, Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival, Elberta Elementary School and local nursing homes. We always feel that "giving back" to our community is very important and strive to do so every year.
We keep our dance studio families informed by publishing a monthly or bi-monthly newsletter "Footnotes". We will publish "Footnotes" on our website, email to our studio families as well as have hard copies provided in the studio waiting area.
